My dear Chechi (elder sister in the native language-malayalam), Annie James, turned 50! Born on November 2, 1974, she’s not just my elder sister but a pillar of strength in my life—a true Federal Reserve, a place of peace and security. She is a remarkably kind and loving soul. To those who know me, it’s no surprise that there are four women who have profoundly shaped my life: my mom, my wife, and my two elder sisters, with Annie as the second of the two. These four, along with two of my close friends, are blessings from Almighty God that I treasure deeply. I am truly fortunate to have them.
Today, during a video call to wish her a Happy 50th Birthday, my wife asked Annie if she could share a few words of wisdom from her 50 years of blessed life. She paused for a moment, then thoughtfully shared the following insights:
- Obey God at all times.
- Be kind to yourself and forgiving; if you want to forgive others, start by forgiving yourself.
- Value family; it’s a gift from God.
- Be gentle to others and avoid rudeness.
- Don’t set unrealistic benchmarks.
- Be patient; even streams find a way through deserts.
- God is good all the time.
- Pursue peace.
- Slow decision-making is often a blessing in disguise.
- A gentle soul is always blessed.
- Patience brings wisdom.
- You are not worthless just because someone ignores you.
- Offer feedback without expecting to change others; we can only do so much.
- Honor your parents at all times.
- After God, family is the first priority.
- If you feel ignored, take it as the beginning of true appreciation.
Simply amazing.
